Self-motivation is currently set at "low"

How do I force myself to get up and out of bed so that I can go to a morning ashtanga class before I start work at 11?

Because right now the mornings are dark and cold and totally uninviting and it's REALLY hard to convince myself that not sleeping in is a great idea.

I'd offer a 3-part response to this problem:

1) be grateful that you don't start work at 9am, like many people (or start French school at 8:30am, like yours truly)

2) remember that the mornings are only going to darker and colder, so appreciate the light while it's there

3) promise yourself something lovely as a reward for getting out of bed (honey & lemon in hot water, your favourite tea, chai, whatever).

Nice to see you back here, sugar, and I look forward to your continued adventures!

Good call on all three of those. I am about to become an office girl who starts at 8:30 am, so I should probably cherish my late mornings while I can.

And thanks! Although I feel like my adventures have been a bit boring of late. Well, except for the whole getting-married-going-to-Paris thing, but I haven't written about that for some reason...

Hello!

My name is Gregor Pavunc, i come from Ljubljana, Slovenia and i have a question about the image (night) you published on the blog:
http://lotusinthecity.blogspot.com/2009/10/how-do-i-force-myself-to-get-up-and-out.html

I am writing about a trip where i did a trip to a local mountain at night, and i would like to add it to my guide. Would you mind if i publish it?

I can add your website or the author on the end of the book as a reference, if you want to...

Thank you for your time!
